When chatting with one of our new raid healers tonight, he told me that he doesn’t click heal. Didn’t actually seem to know what click healing was. So I figured I’d throw together a quick description + guide to setting up to heal like a pro.

That’s us just about to go bash up Lord Marrowgar. Successfully in this case, just because I can tell what you are thinking. Back to the point of the post… the centre bottom of the screen is my click heal interface. I use VuhDo, but there are a number of ways to do it – GRID and Clique is probably the most popular, Healbot a close second… but personally I think that the best option is VuhDo.
What you are looking at is a panel with everyone in the raid represented by a rectangle, which changes colour and fill drops as thier health does. I simply click to place a heal on them – in my case left click for rejuvenation, right for regrowth, thumb for lifebloom and so on. Each time I place a HoT on a target an icon is placed over the square and counts down appropriately so that I know who is being healed, and when I need to reapply.
In my opinion there is no other way to heal.
Soon I will do up some screenshots of my config, and why I think all healers should use something similar, but if you are itching to get started now, then checkout the great guide on Big Bear Butt, Rolling HoTs, or Barkskin

More to come soon
Yeah I know, the rest of the world did this months ago, but I really haven’t been raiding much since Critical went… well critical. I am on holidays from work for the next 3 weeks, so I decided it was time to look for a new guild and get back into it… and it turns out an old Critical buddy is the GM of a new raiding guild. So being lazy, I joined straight up.
Tonight I logged in to play through the new dungeons in the hope of snagging a few minor upgrades (one ring was all I grabbed) and as I was finishing I was getting hassled to come to a 10 man group. By the time we finished up, the RL had logged, but the group moved on to do ToC10 before the weekly reset. I jumped in (despite the lateness of the hour) and enjoyed ToC for the first time.
That’s not to say I haven’t seen ToC before. I have been here MANY times. Never once have I defeated the Twins before – though the rest of the bosses have been downed at least once in either 10 or 25. Tonight we ran straight through and didn’t wipe once… till we hit Anub. Can’t have everything perfect! So I now can finally say I’ve cleared the place, and I am looking forward to getting back into regular raiding… at least for the next few weeks. Who knows what will happen after that.
And so suddenly my passion in raiding is returned. I’m looking forward to ICC next week (1 boss down in 25 only so far) although this raid period is rudely interrupted by christmas (lol) so I don’t know how far I will get seeing as I will likely not be in raids, except for tonight.
New topic… Lots of other bloggers have been holding forth on what they consider to be welfare epics from tokens. While I can see some merit to the argument, I don’t agree… not at all. For someone like myself who was late to WOTLK raiding (didn’t start until Ulduar was out) and then had a 6 week break between ToC and ICC being released. This means that once my gear falls behind, and when my guild broke up, I thought that raiding might be over for me for the rest of WOTLK. The welfare epics have helped me get back into the game, and to be able to take on the content. so what that I didn’t have to spend as much blood, sweat and tears as those truly elite guilds… they are already off enjoying the new content, earning rewards I can’t get yet. Ultimately, what should matter is your own enjoyment, not the need to e-peen over gear. What does it matter if you have the same gear as someone who didn’t work as hard for it, that’s life.. suck it up, take another concrete pill, then go build a bridge and get over yourselves!
New topic… the new dungeons are very, very pretty, and quite a lot of fun. In fact, probably the best dungeons in WOTLK. See… on this I agree with the rest of the blogosphere!
New topic… oh how I love the new LFG. I queue up my low lvl alts, and get a run in minutes, not the hours, or more often never that used to occur. A plan is being hatched amongst a group of friends to play one night a week, with new alts from scratch, and only level through dungeons where possible. Give us the chance to see EVERY dungeon in the game, which is pretty much WoW Nirvanah to me.
New.. oh wait, I got nothing more to say. If you do the Christmas thing, then happy Christmas. Happy Hanukkah, Kwisatz and anyone else I’ve missed with a festival around now, happy that to you too. And Happy New Year, because chances are I won’t post again in the next week.
PS: I will be putting up heal guides to ICC when I get a moment, and as I clear the bosses.
PPS: The welfare epics are inspiring me to spend some time getting Prinz geared up again. Although the new guild is heavy on tanks and holy pallies already, but with spare time who knows what can happen!
