Getting Wood and Locked in Ulduar 10: Part #3

This week one of the better geared trees was available for our 10 man, so we moved around raid places to bring him in. The upside for me is that I get to raid with my lock, which in a lot of ways I prefer. The continuation of last weeks post to finish off Hodir was blending two nights raiding into one. This week sets the strats for the progression now that a new lock-out has begun.

Tonight we should be able to race through Flame Leviathon, Razorscale, XT-002, Kologarn, Auriya and Hodir… having spent our time in previous weeks working on our strategy and working out how to beat these bosses. Hopefully (for the first time, and I really do mean ever) I will get some loot off these bosses. See Parts #1 and #2 of Getting Wood if you want the strategies for those bosses.

Once that lot are down, its time to get back to our progression. We had several attempts at Thorim on Monday night, but we were unable to seal the deal. The worst feeling is wiping when he was down below 100k health. Our biggest obstacle with him currently is successfully running the gauntlet or arena – in four out of five attempts the failures happened before even reaching him.

The fight basically breaks down into three separate and very distinct phases. Before starting the fight, break up into two 5mans in composition. the first group will run the gauntlet in phase 2, while the second group will stay in the arena. Balancing these groups can be difficult – it took us three wipes before we found our ideal breakup. For us it meant two ranged dps in the gauntlet group with one healer, while the arena group had two healers and one ranged dps.

Phase one is clearing the arena of the competitors there who are battling to entertain Thorim. This phase is easy and will be dealt with quickly. Once the mob is mostly down, group one should move to the door to the gauntlet, ready to throw the switch and head off as soon as the last mob is down. Thorim’s timer starts here, so if you want to go for the hard-mode achievement you need to move fast and waste no time at all. Even without hard-mode, you still need to move fast as the enrage timer is five minutes from the start of the gauntlet phase.

Phase 2 for group 1 (which I shall now call phase 2.1) is to move through the gauntlet picking up the mobs and clearing through to Thorim. One member of the group is going to need to watch the movements of the large War Golem at the end of the hallway. He fires off blasts of energy down one side or the other. The group must move out of the way or they will get one-shot. Once the golem is engaged the shots stop. Down the golem and the door will open, and several more mobs need to be dealt with. With two AOE dps this is easily achieved by the tank collecting them all and just AOE’ing them down. Once this group makes it to through here, someone needs to hit Thorim with any ability that will reach him… which brings Thorim into the fight. He will jump down into the arena.

Phase 2.2 is just a survival race. The group remaining in the arena will be hit with more and more mobs of iron dwarfs, so the longer it takes the gauntlet group to get there, the harder it gets for the arena group to survive. I switched to Demonology spec for this fight, which allows me to get out my PVP pet. the Felguard’s Interrupt spell is invaluable in the arena as it can be effectively used to slow down the ingress of more mobs. As soon as Thorim is engaged by the other group he will jump down, and the tank from the arena group needs to be ready to pick him up – no matter how many mobs are left at this point. The first group will drop back down at the same time, so if the main tank is in that group he can taunt off Thorim to begin phase three.

Phase 3 is tank and spank on Thorim. The tanks need to taunt off each other… but umm… apart from that this is a straight up nuke fight. A shadow priest is a real asset here, as they can mind control one of the warbringers and use them to deal damage… plus the group will gain a buff which is very useful.

Once Thorim is down we plan to head for Freya. Similar in many ways to fighting Sartharion, Freya’s hard-mode is to leave one or more of her “drakes” up. Clearing one of more of the ancients before the fight reduces the difficulty of the fight. For this, our first encounter with her, we will do it with no adds.

Phase 1 of the fight starts with Freya being effectively indestructible. Waves of adds are spawned… Storm Lashers, Ancient Water Spirits and Snaplashers, and they each have their own tactics! They all need to be killed at about the same time, otherwise 12 seconds after death they resurrect.

The Water spirit’s ability is a charge, so simply tanking it facing away from the raid is all that is required.

The Storm lasher casts a chain lightning effect, hitting up to three players apart from its tank. It is best to interrupt those as often as possible.

The Snaplasher takes a debuff each time it gets hit. Each stack of the debuff causes an additional 9% damage, and 5% movement slow. Once 20 stacks are on, the tank and melee DPS can move away and the snaplasher can no longer move. If your hunter is good enough, it is possible to kite the snaplasher around with no tank – use any slowing spells and abilities you can.

Once the Snaplasher is stationary, bring the three together to AOE them down. Melee DPS can work on balancing up the damage to each to ensure they go down within 12 seconds, otherwise you will be facing them again.

Then there is another type of lasher… these ones are little bomblings. These do not have a threat table and simple run from player to player attacking randomly. Try to kill them one at a time as each time one dies they do ~8k AOE damage, so killing to many to quickly will cause big problems for the healers.

Lastly during phase one is the Ancient Conservator. This one just needs to be off-tanked and any raid members attacking him do so under the effects of the magic mushy’s. No, that’s the virtual ones, not real ones you idiots.

Phase 2 is straight tank and spank. Entering this phase with any raid members down will probably cause a wipe, as it is a race to DPS Freya down. the longer the fight goes, the more damage she will cause.

While I would love to think we will get further than two bosses on our progression list, I somehow doubt it. so no more strats until we get these ones down and I can update them with what finally worked.

Getting Wood in Ulduar 10 – Part #2

Wow its been a while since I posted any Ulduar Strats! Probably because its been a long time since I have done any Ulduar 10! Real Life has been getting in the way A LOT lately, but last night, for the first time in a long time, I got back into Ulduar.

We only managed to clear one boss (Auriya) beyond where my last post ended, and just as we engaged Hodir the server shutdown. ARGGGGH! When it finally came up we had moved the raid to Onyxia to have a go at her 10 man style… and got her to about 25% before we wiped. Considering half the raid team has NEVER done Onyxia in any form, and none of us had done any research on her new form I think that was a respectable effort.

-Edit- I finished out the Hodir strat in this post as it seemed to fit here :D

But back to the strats of the fights in Ulduar!

Auriya is a weird fight to heal. Her main gotcha is her kitty pounce… which can single shot a tank – and last night it did. The mechanics of this fight are still a bit hazy to me, and I got no clarity from each of the videos and other strategies I’ve looked at so far – it seems that no one can really hand on heart say they know this fight. But basically we all gathered in a little corner, a hunter mis-directed her onto the tank, the tank dies and then we heal one tank like mad through the entire fight to kill her. What more can I say! Oh, occasionally she will fear everyone. Once you finish being feared get back in the corner and keep on healing!

Hodir is next, and some of the trash on the way to Hodir is interesting enough to need strategies in itself. I can see why some players lament the loss of trash in TOC – it does add some flavour to the place. Me, I can take it or leave it most of the time. The trash has no specific healing strategy required – just keep the tanks up and every thing should be fine.

Remember how much fun you had in Nexus, taking down Cyanigosa? If you are a Pally healer, then its a bad memory. Well get ready to Jump Mofo Jump! Because Hodir is more of the same. But, not as bad…
Hodir’s got only a single phase, with several capabilities that a healer needs to be aware of. The fight starts out with the boss coming up and hitting fairly softly. The DPS needs to attack the ice cubes spread around the room. These NPC’s will join in your attack on Hodir. They can be mouse-over healed, but they don’t appear in grid/Vuhdo, so keep an eye on them if you think they will help you through the fight.

Plus there is an achievement for not losing any of them through the fight. Not a hard one to get in my experience. It is very important to always focus on the mage npc for healing and clearing from the flash freeze, as the mage gives the most useful buff to the raid during this fight. The Mage will spawn big campfire things around the room. When a dps stands on them they no longer suffer from the biting cold debuff and can really crank up the DPS. standing still for a pro-longed period will cause icicles so keep your eyes open. The even bigger reason that you need these fires, is that when DPS attack Hodir standing near them, they stack a debuff called singe. Each time you hit it does 3k fire damage, which is not insignificant for this fight, and whats more, the secondary debuff will stack up to 30 times, which is a 2% increase to magic damage per stack. The debuff lasts 25 seconds, but each time it is reapplied it restarts the tick, so theoretically it is possible (in fact not even difficult) to keep the debuff up through the entire fight.

Speaking of click-heal systems, you may want to add some of Hodir’s debuffs to the list. Freeze can be dispelled by a priest, although it can be escaped with any snare release skill like blink. Make sure everyone in the raid gets loose if they get hit, or the next Icicle is likely to crash down on you while you can’t move.

Frozen fists do big damage to your tank, and there are two ways of dealing with them. If you have two tanks, one with frost resist gear, the other mitigation, then when Hodir roars (and DBM warns you that Frozen Fists is about to occur) the frost resist tank taunts off the main tank and takes the shot. as soon as that one shot is down, swap back. The other is to use only a single tank, and to cycle healer and tank cooldowns to mitigate the damage. The first is the easiest, but may leave you short of DPS if you are trying to hit the hard-mode timer. the second is easy if you have a good spread of cooldowns available to use – two pallies and a priest at least. Plus a warrior tank of course.

The last piece of the Hodir puzzle is flash freeze. This will ice block everyone in the raid, excepting those who get themselves up off the floor… Hodir will drop two big icicles, once they have crashed they will form little hills… or icebergs as I prefer to think of them. The whole raid must run up onto them, or they will get iceblocked. Unfortunately the NPC’s do seem to get iceblocked most times, so DPS all needs to focus on them before doing anything else.

So that’s it. It’s the same from start to finish, one phase repeated.

Coming up next, Thorim!

Locked On: OS25 + 0

Last night was scheduled to be our farm/gearing raid of Naxx 25, which I was quite excited about as it would be the first 25man raid outing for my little lock.I had smashed Heroics over the weekend to gear up as much as I could, and felt reasonably confident that I could put out the 2k+ DPS expected of me.

Raid time rolled around and it seemed to take a long time to get everyone in and going. We trudged our way through Arachnid with only 17 in the group (which was good in one ways as I got started on The Dedicated Few) after wiping on Faerlina, we begged a guildy to come help heal and got Momma Said Knock You Out. Maexxna went down easy and we decided to call it a night until we could get a few more players in.

From three bosses I grabbed four nice upgrades – Gemmed Wand of the Nerubians, Haunting Call, Chains of Adoration and Faerlina’s Madness. A great trinket dropped but was stolen out from under me by the other lock… I guess its fair that I get four upgrades to his one.

Arliel then directed us to go beat up Sartharion to cap the night. Again, with less than 20 in the group we were able to get Less Is More, and Besting the Black Dragonflight! OS+0 is (imho) the easiest raid in WOTLK. If the group is well organised and everyone follows instructions, you can breeze through in about 20 minutes. Leaving drakes up makes the boss fight harder, but it doesn’t necessarily take any longer to complete, in fact it can be quicker. Except for wipes of course!

Downing Sartharion is as follows -

1. Tank will take her to one end and hold her facing diagonally away from the raid
2. DPS open up. No one should stand near the tail as she swipes and stuns with it.
3. At random intervals (I’ve never seen it at less than 30 seconds or more than 45 seconds) Fire Wall will occur. Lava will sweep over the fight, with two gaps which all players must get into, or be swept off the platform to die a horrible death in the lava. Unless the healers really love you.
3. a) If anyone does get hit by the fire wall, adds are spawned. Off-tank picks them up, and DPS should change focus and burn them down quickly as they can cause havoc.

And that’s it. That’s all you need to know! It is important to use the Imp for this fight, as consider binding a macro for attack and passive modes so that you can make him move with you through the fight. If you are second lock and have your felhound out, then keep him on passive. the same DPS increase you might gain is nothing compared to the DPS loss from the adds they will spawn if they get swept away. Which they will if they are attacking Sartharion. Exactly the same principle applies to the 10 man version. +Drakes differs slightly as the drakes need to be tanks and dealt with in different ways, so when we get around to doing the hardmodes, I will update this guide. Don’t hold your breath however, OS only gets done when we cbf doing something harder!

the only loot to drop that I was interested in was Gloves of the Lost Conqueror token, but it went elsewhere… my EPGP is less than 1, so I really shouldnt have been surprised :D

Testing Champions

So having reached 80 on my warlock, I eagerly planned out gearing out enough to join the guild on its weekly raiding schedule. At the time I setup this plan, there was no regularly raiding lock, but a new lock has joined the guild, so my plan has since changed a little.

The first thing I did was to look at my gear, trying to work out maximum ilvl 200 purples I could get for minimum time. I also wanted to get an idea of what kind of DPS I was able to lay down, I really didn’t know yet. Lastly I needed to work out glyphs and talents.

Just to confuse matters I’ll deal with three first. I got varying answers about the best raiding build. Destro and Affliction are argued, and I will ultimately try both and see what gives the best results. Noone suggested sticking with Demonology was a good idea, although emotionally I would love to as I love my Felguard! by using talentchic.com I decided that I was going to give Destro a go first. This decision as also affected by the fact that the other lock in the guild (at that time) was affliction. This might give some balance.

So I re-specced and trained up. I was disturbed to see just how much spell-power I lost (over 600sp!) from moving from Demonology to Destruction. I trolled for a ToC group and then had a go at laying down some solid DPS… and I was a bit disappointed. A week on and I’m still unconvinced that Demonology isn’t potentially a better spec for my play style. Yes there is some amount of emotion that goes into my choice – a the end of the day this is a ROLE PLAYING game, and I like that specific role. But for single target boss fights at least, I still think that a good Demonology build may be able to just trump Destruction.

Gearing is something I agonise about very little. Once you hit a minimum level of gear its easy to face-roll your way through the rest of the game. I mean… uhh… At the moment I have an Naxx25 geared toon, and any time we are raiding something hard I can use that toon. I can cover off 2 dps spec’s and healing on this toon, so gearing my lock is of a lower importance. Whenever I have time, I will pug up os or naxx10 and pickup whatever gear I can grab. Each day I try to run the Daily Heroic to gather triumph tokens, and also to grab what drops if its an upgrade to what I have. I also created an upgrade plan using RAWR (which I highly recommend if you haven’l played with it) focusing primarily on the gear I can grab in the wonderful loot Pinata that is Trial of the Champion. Becuase ToC normal can be run again and again, and drops some great ilvl 200 Purples, its the ideal place to start gearing a new to 80 toon. Abyssal Rune or Tears of the Vanquished, Belt of the Churning Blaze or The Confessor’s Binding, Signet of Purity, Leggings of the Haggard Apprentice, Handwraps of Surrendered Hope, Brilliant Hailstone Amulet and Mantle of Inconsolable Fear are all great upgrades on offer, and if you can get the right group, you can run it over and over again till you get them all – which with ToC still being quite new, is easier than you might imagine – even some high level toons are trying to grab trinkets and the like, which although its only a normal instance are actually bis for them!

ToC Heroic also holds some fantastic upgrades, and just from ToC H and N I am left with only two slots unfilled, and a toon well geared to take on Naxx 25 and Ulduar 10. At this stage I am stacking hit rating first and foremost. I didn’t take Suppression when I switched to Destro, which was a mistake. I’ll be respeccing tonight to fix that problem and see if my DPS improves with it.

Finally I took stock of my position with the various factions, and considered what I needed to do next. The Oracles and the Kalu’ak are both at revered, which is as high as I intend to go with either as there are no rewards I really want from them at Exalted. Currently I am working on the Argent Crusade as I want the Pattern: Brilliant Spellthread from them, so whenever I run Heroics I wear the tabard. When I get time I’m running Sons of Hodir dailies, as I want the Pattern: Glacial Bag and Greater Inscription of the Storm from them. These take a fair amount of time, and I am considering just buying enough Relic’s of Ulduar to get me to exalted. I also really need to grind up Kirin Tor rep, but the only way is to do heroic’s and I don’t have the time at the moment, so it will just have to wait until I have a weekend to run every heroic.

Grinding Rep while Levelling… A Guide from 68-80

I’m currently on my third toon, and while I do have fun levelling, I am also trying to optimise my time spent getting to 80 each time. With both Soonti and Prinzipally I had to go back  to grind rep after dinging 80, which felt a bit of a time waste. With that in mind, I set a plan up this time that would see me get maximum reputation from my run through Northerend. This was modified over what I would have done with Prinz or Soonti as I wanted/needed different patterns or pieces of gear, and I’d suggest you do the same. I have called out the tailoring patterns specifically as that’s what I was levelling as I went through this time!

68-70 – Kirin Tor - Coldara, Borean Tundra & Dragonblight
Mixed in with the Wyrmrest Accord quests are quests for the Kirin Tor. The quests inside the Nexus are also Kirin Tor quests. Enough rep here to get you up to honored. All the daily cooking, fishing and jewelcrafting quests are also for the Kirin Tor, so its worth leveling fishing and cooking just for the rep you can get from them (advice I didn’t take myself, mind you!) One of the most in demand items for raiders comes from Kirin Tor rep – Pattern: Sapphire Spellthread. It’s a long grind however – all the way to exalted, but well worth it. If you aren’t able to complete any of the profession dailies, then you will have to wait until you start running dungeons to gain further rep with the Kirin Tor. In addition to wearing the Tabard of the Kirin Tor to gain rep, there are a serious of daily dungeon quests which also grant rep, and the heroic dungeons dailies also offer the reward of two Emblems of Triumph.

68-71 - Kalu’ak - Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord & Dragonblight
The Kalu’ak are very easy to get from Neutral to Revered, and a bit grindy from Revered to Exalted. At Revered you can get two patterns – Pattern: Trapper’s Traveling Pack and Pattern: Emerald Bag; both bags sell very nicely on the AH (on my server at least) Exalted gives Mastercraft Kalu’ak Fishing Pole which is the second best in slot, and much easier to get than the Arcanite Fishing Pole. For the Pet Collectors, Nurtured Penguin Egg is your reward for the grind.
Also,
two of the final quests in the Kalu’ak chain in Howling Fjord will give two very nice blue trinkets – which will likely last you until you hit 80. Even if you don’t wish to grind this rep, its worth doing these quests to get the trinkets.

70 – 73Wyrmrest Accord – Coldara & Dragonblight
Doing all the quests for the Wyrmerst Accord available in Coldara (outside the Nexus) will take you up to Honored, then following up with the quests in Dragonblight will take you nearly to revered. Daily quests can then be used to get you over the mark if you are in a rush to get Pattern: Mysterious Bag which is again in reasonable demand on my AH. Very expensive and time consuming to make however – it needs 4 Spellweave and 2 Moonshroud so unless you are spec’ed for Spellweave Tailoring, that’s 4 Cool downs to make – or 16 days worth! On my server the materials alone are worth about 700g, so make sure you can buy all the materials for less than you can sell the bag…
Grab your Tabard of the Wyrmrest Accord when you hit honored, and make sure you are wearing it, or one of the three others available as soon as you start into the level 80 (Culling of Stratholme, Halls of Lightning,  Uthgarde Pinnacle, Trial of the Champion & Occulus) or heroic dungeons. Reputation Gains for full clears can be found here.

73-76Valiance Expedition and Venture BayGrizzly Hills and Zul’Drak
There is no specific rep grind that can be done through these levels. You will have already done some quests for the Valiance Expedition, and through 73-76 target as many more as you can – in this case I chose Grizzly Hills and Zul’Drak, and only pursued the quest chains that granted rep. A big benefit of griding Valiance rep is that it reduces the cost of Artisan Flying. At revered the cost is a mere 4250g!

Also in Grizzly Hills is Venture Bay – a PvP area similar to Hellfire Peninsula (*shudder*). It can be worth doing the dailies here, as some of the rewards can be useful upgrades. Also quests starting in Grizzly Hills lead into the Zul’Drak dungeon, and the rewards from those quests are quite worth it at this stage of the game.

76The Oracles – Sholazar Basin
Many people make a beeline for Sholazar because of the herbs and mining here, but as a tailor/enchanter I didn’t have that in mind. I did however want to do the quest to get to honored with The Oracles as quickly as I could, as from Honored on is daily quests only… so it takes 8 Days of dailies to get from Honored to Revered. Which I would like to do while I am still levelling if I can.
And the
Mysterious Egg is why we do it! this little gem takes a week to hatch, and each week has the chance to drop an awesome Mount -  Green Proto-Drake; or one of four non-combat pets - Cobra Hatchling, Proto-Drake Whelp, Tickbird Hatchling, and the White Tickbird Hatchling. Don’t gt your hopes too high on getting a mount straight up – you will probably see a lot of Aged Yolk before you finally get a mount. the pets sell on the AH, not particularly well, but its still money for jam once you have them yourself.
Get yourself back to Dalaran when ready to go to Sholzar for the first time, as there is a quest that will fly you out there and save you running in. This leads into a quest chain (3 quests long only) that establishes the flight point at Nessingwary’s Base Camp, but really you want the flight point in the middle, at River Basin, which is nearest the Oracles.
A note on the dailies – Only two of them can be completed at 76, the third cannot be done until 77. the quest chain to get to honored with The Oracles is fun, but isn’t a whole levels worth. So don’t head to Sholazar until 50% of the way through 76 to be able to run straight through and do all three dailies straight away. Also you mileage may vary on being able to solo the quest Hand of the Oracles. Make sure you have a friend handy if you are not a Hunter or Warlock as it may be too hard to solo at 76 otherwise.

71-80Argent Crusade – Dragonblight, Zul’Drak and Icecrown
The Argent Crusade are an interesting faction to grind rep for. I have specifically listed out the Argent Tournament below, as it really has two rep functions – for the Argent Crusade, and also for home city factions. excluding the Tournament, there are several quest chains worth completing on your way through Dragonblight and Zul’Drak to get rep as early as possible. For me the main target of rep with these guys is Pattern: Brilliant Spellthread. Of the two types of spellthread it is in greater demand, however the supply seems to also be greater, so results of supplying both are likely to be similar in terms of sales I would think.

77The Argent Tournament – IceCrown
At 77 get yourself  back to Dalaran (again!) for a free flight up to the tournament grounds. A number of inter-linked quest chains are required to gain reputation with the tournament, after each of the chains a number of days worth of dailies needs to be completed before getting to the next level. Once the first chain is completed, you are given the rank of Aspirant (and a nifty achievement to go with it). Three days of Three (fairly easy) dailies each day will give enough Aspirants Seals to promote you to the rank of ,Valiant after a short chain. From Valiant to Champion takes another five days, at four quests a day. Another chain will need to be completed before you are accepted as a Champion. If at this stage you are exalted with your home race, then you will earn the title Champion of [Home City] – and doing the quests that lead into here also gains reputation with your home city (250 per quest) and each of the other cities (75 per quest) so this is a fantastic and relatively easy rep grind.
Once you reach Champion with your home faction, you can redo the Aspirant dailies for each of the other cities, again getting the same reputation increase.

77-80Sons of Hodir – Storm Peaks
The Sons of Hodir are possibly the hardest faction to gain reputation with in Northerend. the reason for this is that you can’t lob up and start doing dailies, or even just doing a quest chain for them… you have to start in K3 doing a quest chain that seems entirely unrelated. Upon completing that chain, it is possible to them complete dailies and turn-in’s to continue to develop reputation. In my case I want to get all the way to exalted so that I can earn Pattern: Glacial Bag. There doesn’t seem to be a huge demand for this bag, considering just how expensive it is, but I will make them for myself if nothing else. The Sons of Hodir quartermaster also holds some of the best spaulder enchants available, at least the best to everyone who isn’t an inscriptionist. Again exalted is required to get the best, but lower specced versions can be bought at revered, which is relatively easy to achieve.
The quest chain for this starts with
They Took Our Men!, which you can find in K3. This chain is a great story, and really helps to make the last few levels fly by. The final quests from this chain are in Halls of Lighning, which you will want to complete on normal difficulty to see how you will deal with the easier heroic mode dungeons anyway. Also the rewards are pretty good for beginning heroic mode too!

77-80 – Icecrown – Knights of the Ebon Blade
The last of the major Northerend Faction are the Knights of the Ebon Blade. Unlike other factions, a quest chain must be completed before anything can be purchased from the Knights Quartermaster as the location that She stands isn’t accessible before completing the chain. The chain starts from Thassarian on the The Skybreaker, however it might be easier to say it starts a the Dalaran flight point, as there is a lead in quest that will fly you out to the Skybreaker for free. For a Warlock, grinding rep with the Knights is essential, as Pattern: Abyssal Bag comes from them.

And that sums it up. Those rep grinds will almost level you completely from 68-80, which will help to minimise your leveling time. You will not hit exalted with them all, in fact, your may well not hit exalted with any of them, but you will manage to get a good start for your needs at 80.

I didn’t mention The Alliance Vanguard, which is actually a collection of four factions -

  • Valiance Expedition – Who I covered above
  • Explorers’ League – Who have been around for the whole game, but this is a new faction to gain rep with. Don’t fret on trying to get rep with them.
  • The Frostborn – Who? I never worked out how or why to gain rep with these guys, until I went to wowwiki! They are in Frostbourne, a little out of the way flight point in Storm Peaks.
  • The Silver Covenant – Rep can only be gained as a part of the Argent Tournament.

Basically the rep for the Vanguard is an average of the rep gained with all four of the factions within it. Gaining rep is interesting, as any rep earned for one faction will usually result in each faction gaining 25% of that rep.

The remaining factions which haven’t been covered here may be important to you. They weren’t to me, so I haven’t covered them. Do your own research to be sure!

Soonti’s gone Feral

Both literally and figuratively… After our Kitteh left the raid group, I figured a switch back to feral was in order – as much as I enjoy being the laser turkey, and my dps was averaging 3k (which I consider to be awesome as I am still a healer first and foremost, not deeps) I have been missing having more than four spells to cast in any fight. So after our server was rebooted in the middle of naxx the other night, I made the snap decision that it was kitteh time. I ported off to Darnassus, found the trainer and re-specced. I then changed into the gear I had left over from when I specced to Balance (lvl 78) and headed out to have a little practice.

I was somewhat suprised at how good my DPS was considering how crappy my gear is. Since the re-spec I’ve picked up Inevitable Defeat (strictly speaking more of a tanking weapon, but much better than what I had before) Heritage (definitely a tanking neck, but again better than what I had) and the T7.5 Chest and made myself a Trollwoven Girdle. So I have only three items >187 left to replace now, and the practice as kitteh rotation continues before next week’s Naxx.

One bonus of all of this was that I finally got Epic from picking up the new weapon!

Oh and enchants! Need to get the decent stuff I have enchanted :D
