Naxxramas 25 from a Healers Point of View

This post is simply to collect and organise out all the ramblings I’ve made on Naxx – my attempt to simplify the strategies – as many don’t spend the time to sort through themselves. If you are a tank, or DPS, then read this with some reservation – I will not guarantee the strategies are in any way correct. If you are a healer, specifically a drood, then the guide will work, and work fine. You can easily print it and keep it next to your machine while running Naxx, to remind yourself of the fights as you go along… that’s why I wrote it, to remind myself!

without further ado…

Arachnid Quarter

  • Anub’Rekhan
  • Grand Widow Faerlina
  • Maexxna

Construct Quarter

  • Patchwerk
  • Grobbulus
  • Gluth
  • Thaddius

Plague Quarter

  • Noth the Plaguebringer
  • Heigan the Unclean
  • Loatheb

Military Quarter

Final Bosses

I promise I will eventually condense this down from my posts… at the moment 3.2 is too exciting to both with doing anything other than going to play!

3.2 is here… Huzzah!

more to come when I can log in and play!

-Edit- O Joy, I can now create a Horde on the same pvp server on which I have my ally toons! Time to re-roll my shaman!

-Edit 2- O Sadness, I still can’t post anything to them, which is the only reason I really want them to be on the same server *grrrr* I can’t send any heirloom items

Naxx 25 with a Boomkin Part#6 – The Four Horsemen and Sapphiron

So to cap off my adventures in Naxx, I finally was around to finish the last two bosses I had missed on the last few raids. After running through Arachnid and Constructs the night before, we cleared Plague and Military… up to The Four Horsemen. Last time we got to here we wiped twice and I had to go as it was too late to continue. This time we swept through in one attempt… huzzah!

The Four Horsemen is a simple fight, but only if you do it just right. So I guess that makes it complex. Four tanks are ideal for this fight, one for each horseman. Assign a healer to each tank, and station one in each corner of the room. Station the rest of the raid in one corner – probably the left front corner as you run in. You will need six healers for this fight, or maybe more – as each healer and tank in each corner is out of reach of each other, so one healer cannot easily pickup the work of another. More on that in a moment…

You don’t have a choice not to engage in each corner. This is how the horsemen move at the start of the fight – so don’t think you can try something else… well, actually there are plenty of strategies, but all involves tanking each horseman separately in some way. Some strategies call for only two tanks, but four is what you need to do this easily. Stack all the DPS together in the first corner, and once the tank in that corner has them under control, start wailing on the horseman. There is some reason for the tanks to taunt each others marks, and swap, but that tanking stuff is beyond a simple tree like me. Just be aware your tank will move out into the centre to swap marks with the tank on the other side, so move with them if you need to. Once the first Horseman is burned down, move to the next, round the room till all are down. Easy!

With all four quarters down, we teleported up stairs, ready to engage with Sapphiron. Sapph is a blue undead frost dragon, and is definitely the second hardest fight in Naxx, as befits the second to last boss.

Only a single tank is needed for Sapph, but stack healers if you can – seven or eight is ideal. The lower your frost resistance the more healing you will need. Also if you have Mages in your raid, have them spec fire or arcane. The main ability to watch for with Sapph is Chill, with a side of iceblock… err I mean… While Sapph is in the air the blizzard-like ability chill will be moving about. When two players have been significantly hit by Chill they will become iceblocks, Sapph will land and do a 1-shot kill AOE attack , that is avoided by hiding behind the ice-blocks. Rinse repeat and DPS as hard and fast as possible for the duration.

Healers will likely have mana problems in this fight, unless you have 15+ 3k DPS’ers in the group. If that’s the case, make sure healers work together so that your Healadins can take a break while using Divine Plea to keep mana’ed up. Also any droods in the group should be ready and able to innervate through out the fight – if that means your boomkins stand around waiting for mana to come back, then so be it.

And with Sapphiron down I finally earned Heroic: The Fall of Naxxramas

Now to start working on Ulduar!

PS. Shortly I will condense these out of order guides into a single Naxx guide. With 3.2 being loaded tonight, expect it… ummm soon. Expect some Coliseum related posts sooner!
